Google to open new incubator for start-ups in Seoul --- ‘Campus Seoul’

In an announcement made at a press conference held in Seoul on Thursday, Internet search giant Google said that it plans to set up a new incubator for startups in Seoul.

The start-up campus will be called 'Campus Seoul,' and it will essentially deliver support to the budding entrepreneurs in the country. Google has already set up similar start-up Campuses in London and Tel Aviv; and plans to build new Campuses in Sao Paulo and Warsaw.

Announcing the 'Campus Seoul' start-up incubator, Google said that the Campus will not only help strengthen the start-up scenario in Seoul, but will also give a notable boost to innovation in Korea via the company's programs and resources.

Google said in a press release that since 'Campus Seoul' will be the first 'incubator for start-ups' to be built by the company in Asia, the size of the Campus will largely be the same as Campus London.

Asserting the 'Campus Seoul' is being set up with the key objective of creating a vibrant startup community in Korea, Bridgette Beam - Google's Global Entrepreneurship Manager - said that the Campus will have no boundaries in terms of business sectors. Beam elaborated: "An entrepreneur can even come up to and make an application that works only on the iOS platform, and not on the Android."
