It has been reported that Sony is all set to re-launch its streaming music for PlayStation Network. The Japanese multinational conglomerate said this streaming music service will be backed by its new partner Spotify, which has ample expertise in streaming music services.
It was told that the existing Sony Music Unlimited service will be closed in order to make way for the new PlayStation Music service powered by Spotify, a commercial music streaming service.
Sony also said that almost all the countries that presently have the access to Music Unlimited will be made part of the launch group of 41 countries who will be getting PlayStation Music with Spotify after it arrives this spring.
PlayStation Music will be available for the first on PlayStation consoles and Xperia tablets and smartphones. With the partnership with Spotify, PlayStation Music users will be able to link their PSN ID with Spotify.
Users can also use their PlayStation payment options to subscribe to Spotify's Premium service, and after that Spotify's 30 million-track library and 1.5 billion playlists will then be available to PlayStation Music users. The app can also run in the background while running PlayStation games on consoles, said Sony.
Users will also be able to build their own collections using tracks from the Spotify's library and create playlists. As per sources, the Music Unlimited will be closed up at store on March 29, 2015, so there are expectations that the launch of PlayStation Music will be on or before that date.
In addition, the present PlayStation Music subscribers who have an active subscription as of February 28, 2015, will get a free 30-day extension through to the closing date. They will also be getting a special Spotify Premium trial offer after the new service launches.
