In a Monday press release, BlackBerry has announced that three of its handsets - the BlackBerry Q10, BlackBerry Q5 and BlackBerry Z30 smartphones - have earned Red Dot Awards for design.

Revealing that three awards have been received by the company from the prestigious Red Dot panel, Alison Phillips - BlackBerry's Managing Director of Industrial Design - said that the design awards earned by the three smartphones this year marks a "welcomed addition" to the Red Dot Product Design award which the BlackBerry design team received for the BlackBerry Z10 smartphone last year.

The trifecta of design wards which BlackBerry has scored with the Q10, Z30, and Q5 handsets this year underscores a highly commendable honor, given the fact that the prestigious 40-member Red Dot panel examined almost 5,000 entries from 53 different countries. The winners were selected by the panel on the basis of the "quality and innovative strength" of each product.

The awards will be handed out by the Red Dot committee to the winning products at the annual Red Dot Gala and Designers' Night in Essen, Germany. Moreover, the winning products will also be displayed in a special exhibition at the Red Dot Museum

With regard to BlackBerry's winning designs, Brian Paschke - Senior Industrial Designer, Portfolio Direction at BlackBerry - said: "We pride ourselves on industrial design that is simple and intuitive in functionality, while maintaining iconic and familiar elements such as our keyboard and productivity-based user experience."
