Tech giant Google revealed in a Monday announcement that it has launched its futuristic Glass eyewear in the UK. The announcement implies that the UK has become the second country - after the US - to boast the availability of the smart Glass eyewear.
The Glass device was first unveiled by Google in 2012; and it was made available for sale to general public in the US in May this year.
The launch of the Glass device in the UK means that Google has opened its beta Glass Explorer program to the UK residents. As such, any person who lives in the UK, and is more than 18 years of age, can purchase Google's high-tech headset.
The cost of the Google Glass device in the UK is £1,000, which - at current exchange rates - translates to approximately $1,700; that is, $200 more than the cost of the device in the US.
Google has scheduled a demonstration event for the Glass device in the UK this week. The event will be held in London on Friday and Saturday, and will be open to anyone interested in testing the Glass device. To sign up for the demo, or to buy the Glass device, interested UK residents should go to the Google website.
