At an online eBay Motors auction, the special, one-off edition of Nissan's GT-R flegaship supercar - the `Bolt Gold' GT-R, which has been autographed by Olympic champion Usain Bolt - fetched $187,100; an amount that is almost two-fold more than the car's list price at auction.
The charity auction, which was launched on eBay Motors on November 22, also included some other items, such as racing helmets, special driving suits and boots, and even signed memorabilia from world's fastest man, Usain Bolt. These items, which were bid by more than 100 people, together fetched a total amount of more than $6,000.
Overall, the auction fetched a total of over $193,000, which will all be donated to the Usain Bolt Foundation --- the six-time gold medal winner's charity which chiefly works for the creation of educational and cultural opportunities for the youth in Jamaica.
About the money raised at the eBay motors auction, Bolt said that his charitable organization has been greatly benefited from his association with Nissan. The Olympic champion also added that the eBay donation will be of immense help in providing the children an access to "better facilities, play areas and educational materials in Jamaica."
Meanwhile, the Australian buyer of the `Bolt Gold' Nissan GT-R at the auction said that Nissan's flagship car "just gets better and better and more refined each year;" and added: "The fact that this gold GT-R also celebrates the incredible achievements of the great Usain Bolt makes it something very special indeed."
