South Africa unveils solar-powered mobile clinic for health and dental care

Last week, South Africa unveiled a mobile clinic - a health and dental clinic powered by solar energy - and announced that the mobile clinic facility will soon be available for the residents of sub-Saharan Africa.

According to reports, the mobile clinic - which was unveiled for the first time in Cape Town - is equipped with the latest technology and equipment for bringing health as well as dental care to the residents of rural communities in Africa's sub-Sahara region.

Built with a cost of £168,000, the mobile clinic - in a seven-metre long vehicle - features a dedicated hearing service, along with a fully equipped dental clinic, a blood clinic as well as eye care services.

In addition, the mobile clinic will also have the requisite facilities in place to offer screening for a number of health conditions - including high blood pressure, diabetes, and cataracts - and oral health conditions, like tooth decay.

With healthcare and education being the two major issues in Africa, the staff team employed at the mobile clinic will not only offer the mentioned services to the rural communities in sub-Saharan Africa, but will also promote health education and educate the people about the steps they can take to ensure that their risk of developing illnesses and diseases is reduced.
