BMW launches high-performance 2016 M2 Coupe

Bigwig automaker BMW launched its new 2016 BMW M2 Coupe at the Laguna Seca race track in California this week.

The 2016 BMW M2 Coupe, which has already received upbeat reviews from auto experts, will become available for purchase at authorized BMW centers in April. The car will be priced at $51,700 -- excluding Destination and Handling charges -- for the base model.

The new M2 will be available in four color options --- Sapphire Black Metallic; Long Beach Blue; Alpina White; and Mineral Grey. For the interiors, however, there will be only one common option --- black Dakota leather with blue contrast stitching, and an M logo in the backrests.

The new BMW M2 model is equipped with a turbocharged 3.0-litre straight-six engine, capable of delivering 370 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 343 pound-feet torque between 1,400-5,560 rpm. The high-performance car will have the ability to accelerate from zero to 60 miles per hour (mph) in barely 4.2 seconds. The six-speed manual transmission will reach 0-60 mph in 4.4 seconds.

The cabin of the 2016 BMW M2 Coupe will boast a number of BMW M-specific features like Sports seats, an M footrest and knee pad on the center console; and BMW M2-specific dials and needles in the equipment. The car will also come with M logos on the rev counter, door sill plates, and gearshift lever; along with an M leather steering wheel with shift paddles.
