Online retailer Amazon has offered $42 per share for Whole Foods Market.

Bigwig US grocer Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has revealed in a Tuesday announcement that it has efforts underway to phase out the sale of eggs from caged hens, at US Wal-Mart and Sam's Club stores, by the year 2025.

The announcement underscores Wal-Mart's commitment to supply 100% cage-free eggs by the mentioned timeline.

In recent years, gender gap in pay has been a hot topic of discussion. On Wednesday, Amazon. com Inc said its female employees are paid equally as their male counterparts. The results which came from a recent survey were disclosed under pressure from an activist shareholder Arjuna Capital, the activist arm of investment firm Baldwin Brothers Inc.

On Thursday morning, Macy's Inc. announced that it will close 14 retail stores as it is investing more in technology.

It is expected that the 14 stores will close by early spring. These stores had annual sales totaling $130 million and the company hopes that some of those sales will be retained in nearby stores or through online/ mobile sales.
