Bigwig gaming accessory manufacturer Razer has unveiled a new addition to its keyboard lineup --- a series of new BlackWidow X keyboards.
Announcing the new BlackWidow X keyboard line, Razer said that the new lineup comprises the BlackWidow X Chroma, BlackWidow X Chroma TE, and BlackWidow X Ultimate keyboards, which are now available from purchase from the Razer website. The cost of the new keyboards begins at $130.
According to the details shared by Razer, the newly-announced line of BlackWidow X keyboards boasts the inclusion of a new in-house switch design -- dubbed the Razer Mechanical Switch -- which has a supposed increase in lifespan of 80 million key strokes.
To put it differently, 80 million key strokes works out to approximately 4-5 years of standard usage, or 2-3 years if used solely for gaming purposes.
Meanwhile, with the new Razer BlackWidow X series of keyboards featuring switches mounted on top of a bare backplate, the apparent ‘no top panel’ design strongly allies with Corsair keyboards, though some other manufacturers have also implemented the design. Moreover, Razer has also said that the new keyboards come with a so-called ‘Chroma lighting’ feature which brings custom individual backlighting to each of the keyboard’s keys.
