Cadillac unveils its new ‘Escala’ concept car

At a swanky motoring show -- the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance -- held in Southern California on Friday, Cadillac unveiled its new concept car --- the ‘Escala’ sedan. The name ‘Escala’ is Spanish for ‘scale.’

The Cadillac Escala concept car will be exhibited to the public at the motoring show for the first time this weekend. The car underscores an apparent effort by the Cadillac brand to entice new customers by packing cabins with technology.

The Escala concept car is Cadillac’s bigger – approximately 6inches linger – sedan than its current flagship --- CT6. The car essentially offers a preview of the future lines of Cadillac’s body design.

Drawing attention to the fact that the bigger Escala concept car has a number of curved OLED screens scattered throughout the dashboard, Cadillac said that that the numerous OLED screens give an "intensely focused" technology edge to the front seats, while delivering “relaxation” to the rear seats.

Asserting that the Escala concept car designers were briefed to “create a car you desperately want to drive, and also one in which you want to be driven,” Andrew Smith -- Cadillac's design head -- said in a statement. "So rather than a single design, this interior consists of two themes. It was an opportunity for our designers to break the rules a little bit, exactly what Cadillac should do from time to time."
