Nike launches companion Android app for its FuelBand wristband

Sportswear giant Nike has recently announced the launch of a companion Android app for its FuelBand wristband. For Android users, the Nike+ FuelBand app is now available in the Google Play store, and is compatible with devices which run Android OS version 4.3 'Jelly Bean.'

The launch of the companion Android app for the Fuelband comes two years after the availability of the companion iOS app for the wristband.

Prior to the launch of the Nike+ Fuelband's companion Android app, wireless sync of the wristband's info was available only on iOS devices. However, users of any device could upload his or her data to Nike's website via the FuelBand's USB port.

With the recently-announced launch of companion Android app, the FuelBand and FuelBand SE has been "optimized" for a number of Android devices, including Samsung's Galaxy S3, Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S5 handsets, along with the HTC One, the Google Nexus 5 and the Motorola Moto X.

In addition, it is also being reported that the Nike FuelBand Android app works just the same in conjunction with a few unlisted devices as well, including the larger Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and the Google Nexus 7.
