According to a Seattle Times report, software giant Microsoft paid an amount of $10,000 to California-based travel agent Teri Goldstein last month, after she took the legal route against the company over its Windows 10 upgrade tactics, and won a small claims court ruling in her favor.
In her complaint, Goldstein – who owns Sausalito, California-based TG Travel Group LLC – had said that an unauthorized installation of Windows 10 OS on her Windows 7 work computer failed repeatedly; thereby rendering her computer almost inoperable.
Goldstein further added that they repeated failure of the Windows 10 upgrade caused frequent crashing of her work computer, forcing the restoration of files. Moreover, with the computer not recognizing her external hard drive, she had an infuriating time logging on each day, as the computer demanded the use of multi-step workarounds.
With Goldstein successfully arguing that her work computer was crippled by an unauthorized Windows 10 upgrade, the judge in small claims court asked Microsoft to pay $10,000 to Goldstein, as a compensation for the problems she had faced.
Microsoft paid the compensation amount to Goldstein last month. The company told The Seattle Times that it has decided not to appeal the matter because it wants to avoid further legal expenses.
