In a recent announcement, live streaming platform and gamer community Twitch said that it is launching a new feature - dubbed 'Clips' - which gives website viewers the ability to take quick snapshots of the interesting content they have viewed in the live streams of others.
Announcing the launch of the new 'Clips' feature, Twitch said that the feature will be gradually rolled out to viewers in the "coming weeks." The launch of the new feature comes after its earlier testing by Twitch in an internal beta.
According to the details shared by Twitch, the 'Clips' feature essentially enables website viewers to quickly and effortlessly snip a 30-second portion video from others' live streams, and even share that clip with others.
Since the clips automatically include links to the original broadcaster, it is apparent that viewers cannot appropriate someone else's content as their own. Moreover, the inclusion of the links to the original broadcaster also sends traffic back to the website when viewers share the Clip more broadly.
Twitch has also revealed that the clip-sharing feature boasts built-in sharing for Facebook, Twitter and Reddit. The availability of built-in sharing for the mentioned social networks is marked by small sharing buttons positioned at the top right side of the Clip, next to a button for the Clip's link.
