Park office records footage of fifty sharksoff English coast

A video has been able to record about fifty sharks circling off the coast of England, raising concerns among the people on the coastal areas.

The sharks, which were identified as the Common Smoothound, were seen circling in the intertidal waters. These sharks are about 1.5 metres and were seen at the Medmerry Royal Society for the Protection of Birds nature reserve near Selsey, in West Sussex.

Peter Hughes, who works as a park warden, recorded a video of the sharks. He said, "It was astonishing. There were just these huge fish everywhere in knee-deep water. We knew in time that Medmerry was going to be a great place for wildlife, but I don't think anyone expected this. We assume they were coming in to feed on the crabs and other marine life that have made their home at Medmerry."

The Common Smoothound sharks are usually seenoffshore and live on continental shelved between five and 50 metres deep.Medmerry nature reserve is about seven kilometres of floodbank inland from the sea and was built between 2011 and 2013 in the UK.
