According to a recent AdAge report, which first disclosed Apple's latest hire, Apple has recently appointed retailer The Gap's senior executive Marcela Aguilar as its new Director of Global Marketing Communications.
Aguilar was working at The Gap as the company's Senior Global Director - Marketing Communications. At The Gap, Aguilar made immense contribution to the remaking of the brand during the last three years.
During her stint at The Gap - which she joined in mid-2011, and was the first external hire by The Gap's global CMO Seth Farbman -, the retailer witnessed a noteworthy rebound in sales; with the brand also winning accolades for its fresh marketing.
Before joining The Gap, Aguilar had also worked at New York ad biggie BBDO, where she was the head of a team for Proctor & Gamble's advertising. In 2013, advertising-focused AdAge named Aguilar as 'A Woman to Watch.'
Aguilar is one of the several fashion hires made by Apple CEO Tim Cook on recent times. She joins Apple at a time when the company is set to launch its first wearable technology device - the Apple Watch - which was announced alongside the new iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus handsets at a product launch event held by Apple on September 9.
