According to a Venturebeat report, Chinese device manufacturer Lenovo - the owner of Motorola - is apparently retiring the Moto X line of smartphones, and will likely brand its new Moto handsets as Moto Z.
The new Moto Z line of flagship smartphones will apparently be unveiled by Lenovo at its Tech World conference which is scheduled to be held in early June. The introduction of the new Moto Z handsets will some soon after the unveiling of new Moto G handset lineup which will probably arrive in the US later this summer.
The Venturebeat report has revealed that Lenovo's imminent shift in branding of its new flagship Moto handsets from Moto X to Moto Z is evident from unpublished marketing materials for the devices. The report also claims that Lenovo may also change the branding of the DROID line of smartphones at Verizon to Moto Z; with those devices to be dubbed Moto Z 'DROID Edition.'
The Venturebeat report substantiates the last-week-leaked details which disclosed that two upcoming Motorola handsets are codenamed Vector Thin and Vertex. These handsets will publicly be available as the Moto Z Style and the Moto Z Play respectively.
The Moto Z Style handset will apparently be the more premium of the two forthcoming Moto flagship handsets; while the Moto Z Play will, in comparison, have pared down features.
