Civilization VI will launch on PC in October, with some major changes

In a Wednesday announcement, 2K Games and Firaxis said that the long-running 4X strategy game franchise is scheduled to get a new addition -- Civilization VI -- later this year.

Introducing the forthcoming Civilization VI game, 2K Games and Firaxis said that the game will be launched on PC on October 21, 2016.

Revealing that the upcoming The Civilization VI game is already available for preorder on Steam, 2K Games and Firaxis said that the regular version of the game is priced at $60; while its 'Digital Deluxe' version is priced at $80, and it includes the 25th Anniversary Digital Soundtrack as well as access to four post-launch DLC packs.

Highlighting the fact that Civilization VI will bring some major changes to the 4X strategy franchise, 2K Games and Firaxis said that the art style of the game will be more "cartoony" that Civilization V; though the hexagonal tile layout of the earlier game will be retained in the new game.

In addition, 2K Games and Firaxis also revealed that cities will take up multiple tiles in Civilization VI, as they will "physically expand across the map;" with the gamers "leading a civilization from the Stone Age to the Information Age."
