The kid-friendly restaurant/arcade chain Chuck E. Cheese has set up an Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) headset to unfold a virtual ticket-blasting experience for the children.
To enjoy the thrill of virtual ticket-blasting at Chuck E. Cheese, kids have to wear the Oculus Rift VR headset, which allows them to move their heads around and put floating virtual tickets in the crosshairs. In the mean time, real tickets fly around the kids within the game's clear plastic booth.
The tickets which the kids manage to blast using the Oculus Rift head-tracking goggles - and also the ones which they snatch out of air - can be redeemed at the counter, and traded for all types of treasures.
For the 'Ticket Blaster' experience, Chuck E. Cheese has partnered with Texas-based animation firm ReelFX.
A six-week trial run of publicly playable version of 'Virtual Ticket Blaster' with Oculus Rift will be launched by Chuck E. Cheese later this month, starting at a location in Dallas, Texas. The test run will soon be expanded to other DFW-area Chuck E. Cheese's, as well as locations in San Diego, California, and Orlando, Florida.
In addition, the Oculus Rift VR headset will also be available to birthday parties scheduled during the 'Virtual Ticket Blaster' trial run.
