According to a recent report, in many parts of Europe, Microsoft's Smartphone platform has crossed the double digit mark in market share. It is for the first time that Windows Smartphone has recorded double digits in two major markets.
It has hit 10.8% in France and 12% in Great Britain. But things are not as good and rosy as they seem to be in other parts of the continent.
Android remains the top operating system, across Europe, with a 70.1% market share, but its dominant position is increasingly threatened, as growth trails behind both Windows and iOS.
In the big five European countries, namely, Great Britain, Germany, France, Italy and Spain, Windows Phone owns a cumulative 9.2% of the field.
According to Kantar, that's still a distant third to iOS and Android, the latter of which owns a staggering 70.1% of the market.
The free fall of the BlackBerry however continues as it is dropping to just 2.4% in those same five markets. On one hand, over the last three months, there are not too many other exciting changes in the Smartphone. On the other hand, Samsung begins to feel pressure from the increasing popularity of Sony, Nokia and LG.
