Google updates its Verify Apps feature

Google has recently revealed that it has updated its app verification feature called Verify Apps. The app verification feature is basically an optional security-service-enabled default which Google has put in place in recent versions of its Android mobile operating system. The feature sends app-related data from an Android device to Google.

Since the app verification process essentially aims to block malicious or dangerous apps from being installed on an Android device, so that the personal information of the users is not exposed, the updated Verify Apps feature will enable Google to police apps during the installation process.

In addition, the updated app verification feature will also give Google the additional ability of monitoring the apps after they have been installed by the users of Android devices.

As a result of the updated Verify Apps feature users will get an alert screen whenever the Android system senses that a malicious app has slipped onto their devices at some point, or if the app has been programmed to misbehave later. The alert screen will ask the users to immediately uninstall the offending app.

However, despite the fact that the update of the app verification feature by Google is a security move by the company, it will also enable Google to remotely uninstall those apps from a user's Android handset or tablet which have proved to be used for phishing or other malicious activity.
