Apple ships new versions of its operating systems, Safari web browser, and Apple TV firmware

On Monday, new versions of Apple's OS X and iOS operating systems were shipped, along with an update version of the company's Safari web browser and Apple TV firmware.

As a result, Apple's OS X Mavericks version has been updated to version 10.9.4; while iOS 7 version has been updated to iOS 7.1.2.

In the latest release of OS X Mavericks, a total of 19 vulnerabilities have been addressed in a variety of OS subsystems, ranging from graphics and Thunderbolt drivers to the Dock. Meanwhile, the vulnerabilities patched in iOS 7.1.2 version include a horde of vulnerabilities, including as many as 30 issues in the mobile version of WebKit.

The new version of Safari web browser which was shipped by Apple on Monday is version 7.0.5, which patches 12 vulnerabilities in the WebKit rendering engine. The flaws patched in the latest Safari version include a range of memory-corruption issues which can give a malicious website the ability to potentially crash the browser or execute arbitrary code.

Lastly, the latest Apple TV release - Apple TV 6.2 - chiefly includes fixes for 35 issues; most of which are the same WebKit bugs that have been patched in the latest iOS and Safari updates.
