A newfangled technology has been developed by researchers at Harvard and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). This technology hypothetically could be used to make an actual lightsaber.
Light is said to be made up of photons, or the mass-less particles. These particles pass through each other without any interaction.
Atoms have improbably coaxed photons into tough molecules, in fact, strike against each other. This conclusion was made according to the Harvard Gazette, scientists at the Harvard-MIT Center for Ultracold.
The Researchers at Harvard University and MIT have outshined the "force" by finding out a previously unobserved state of matter. This state was founded by joining photons together into molecules. The result of this combination is a real-life lightsaber similar to what was used in the epic film series.
The latest study by the scientists contradicts the earlier study done by them. According to which, photons are massless and that they do not interact with each other.
Harvard professor of physics Mikhail Lukin, said, "Most of the properties of light we know about originate from the fact that photons are massless, and that they do not interact with each other". This was told by him in a statement made earlier this week.
