Vienna’s IAEA Votes down Arab-Sponsored Resolution

A recent report has unveiled that an Arab-sponsored resolution that targets the Israeli nuclear capabilities has been voted down by Vienna's I-A-E-A General Conference.

While a total of 51 nations have been voted in opposition to the draft document, as many as 43 countries have voted in favor. Since 2010, the text had been presented for the first time.

The same asked Israel to link up with a global anti-nuclear weapons treaty, putting the atomic facilities under the monitoring of IAEA.

Varied countries lifted the issue of nuclear capabilities of Israel. These nations stressed that a nuclear weapon-free area's development could ensure amity in the Middle East and secure stability too.

However, international community is needed to pressurize Israel. Since, it is the only supposed nuclear weapon possessor in the zone.

In the belief of Iran, the ignorance of legitimate concerns of the global community put the regional security and peace at a severe risk. Israel has made an effort in response to hold off an attack as it has mentioned the NPT-regulated nuclear programs of Iran and Syria.

According to David Danieli, Israeli delegate, "Such criticism was meant to deflect attention from the large quantities of chemical weapons held by Syria, or the fundamental challenge posed by Iran's pursuit of nuclear weapons".
