Best Buy launches pre-order system for Google’s new Nexus 7 tablet

Retailer Best Buy has recently launched a pre-order system for Google's new updated Nexus 7 tablet. According to a report in The Verge, the Best Buy pre-orders for the new Nexus 7 were already in place even before the device's details could be officially disclosed by Google at a July 24 event.

Prior to Google's event, Best Buy had already taken away much of Google's thunder by leaking the specifications of the new Nexus 7 in an advertising circular which will go into newspapers all across the US on July 28.

By now announcing the pre-order offer for the new Nexus 7, Best Buy has preempted Google's formal, July 30-scheduled release of the tablet, which will reportedly be launched with a $230 price-tag for the entry-level 16GB model; and $270 for the 32GB model.

Some of the notable features of the much-rumored new Google Nexus 7 include 1,920-by-1,200 display resolution; 2GB of RAM, a quad-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro 8064 processor with Adreno 320 graphics; a 5-megapixel front-facing camera resolution; and a 1.2-megapixel back camera. The tablet will run Google's newest Android version - Android 4.3.

About the leaked new Nexus 7 details by Best Buy, The Verge said in its report the leaked "now-horizontal wordmark on the back" of the tablet "implies that Google's second Nexus 7 is intended to be used in landscape mode more often than in portrait, ostensibly in an effort to underline its credentials as a tablet rather than just an oversized phone."
