Japan’s NTT Docomo Acquires Austrian Fine Trade

Japanese carrier NTT Docomo has announced the acquisition of Fine Trade, an Austrian e-commerce solution provider for an undisclosed amount of over tens of millions of Euros. The company has not revealed the terms of business yet.

With this latest acquisition, the Japanese company aims to grow its business in Europe. The latest takeover by NTT Docomo follows $300 million deal to buy Buongiorno in Italy last year and $19 million deal for funding femocell maker Ubiquisys in England.

The Spokesperson for the company has said that due to the business development concerns the amount for the latest deal cannot be disclosed.

Fine Trade will now function under Docomo Deutschland, a subsidiary of Docomo. Docomo Deutschland also controls the operations of Bongiorno and net-m.

"Through its investment in Fine Trade, Docomo will now expand its payment platform portfolio in Europe to include the online retail market for consumer goods, where fine trade operates its own payment platform business," stated a press note issued by Docomo.

It added that Docomo's group companies have already been offering easy payment platforms to the mobile operators, as well as to the content/service providers. On this payment platform offered by Docomo, fees for digital content usage get added in the phone bills of the consumers.

The new acquisition will open new options of payments and billing for the consumers.
