Swedish video game studio Starbreeze AB is working on a high-resolution virtual reality (VR) headset - dubbed 'StarVR' - in collaboration with Taiwanese device manufacturer Acer.
The StarVR headset - which was showcased by Starbreeze at the 2015 E3 event - reportedly boasts a remarkable 210 degree field of vision. More details about the headset will likely be shared by Starbreeze in the coming months.
For bringing the StarVR headset to the market, Starbreeze and Acer have signed a letter of intent to form a joint venture. Under the terms of the partnership worked out by Starbreeze and Acer, StarVR headsets will be developed and manufactured by the two companies, and marketed to the "professional and location-based entertainment market."
According to the information shared by Acer about its partnership with Starbreeze for manufacturing the StarVR headset, the device will boast compatibility with a new range of Acer desktops and notebooks which were announced by the company in April.
In reference to Acer's StarVR-related joint venture with Starbreeze, Acer CEO Jason Chen said that the company will "[devote] R&D resources across multiple aspects of the VR ecosystem."
