Mark 2 Jaguar redesigned by Ian Callum and Classic Motor Cars

At Jaguar's recent inauguration of its new headquarters in Bridgnorth, the company unveiled a redesigned and re-engineered version of its classic Mark 2 Jaguar.

The car has been redesigned by Jaguar design chief Ian Callum, in collaboration with Shropshire restoration specialist Classic Motor Cars. The effort involved in redesigning the Lark 2 Jaguar marked a true 'labour of love' exercise for Callum because was it was his own car that was restored with a unique individual twist.

The redesigned and re-engineered Mark 2 Jaguar is equipped with a modified 4.3 litre XK engine; 5-speed manual gearbox; upgraded front brakes; and distinctive independent rear suspension.

The form of the redesigned Mark 2 Jaguar is 30mm lower than the traditional design; and it sits on 17-inch split rim spoke wheels. The car's bumpers are now a part of its overall form, which makes it a practical, reliable, and exciting everyday car.

Noting that the redesign maintains the "purity" of the Mark 2 Jaguar's form, Callum said that the redesign car marks "a fine balance of extracting and adding." About putting his own unique stamp on a classic Mark 2 Jaguar, Callum said: "This is a very personal statement. A long held notion that, although the Mark 2 has always been a beautiful car, it could be even more exciting in shape and performance."
