At a New York event on Thursday, Google's Motorola Mobility subsidiary unveiled its much-hyped `Moto X' handset, which is an impressive Android-based smartphone that has been design to take on the popular Apple iPhone.
Boasting a wide array of attractive features, the `Moto X' marks Google's attempts to revive Motorola Mobility, which it acquired two years back. The `Moto X' handset is the first important device to be released by Motorola ever since its acquisition by Google, which has reportedly earmarked an amount of $500 million to market the handset worldwide.
Two of the most notable selling points of the `Moto X' are: the handset has been manufactured in the US; and buyers can customize their devices - and even add a short message - on the Motorola website.
In addition, the `Moto X' handset - priced at $200 for the base model, with a two-year contract - also boasts the `Touchless Control', or voice command, ability which is always `On' and acts as a portal to the Google Now feature --- thereby highlighting at the fact that the handset is part of a grand artificial intelligence experiment.
Some of the other features of the `Moto X' - which has a curved design and a Kevlar back - include a 4.7-inch OLED touch screen; multiple processors; a 10-megapixel camera; and onboard storage options of 16GB and 32GB.
