Low Allowance makes Private Ambulance Crews to Stay in Tents

As per reports, it has been unveiled that private ambulance crew members who work for the NHS have been living in canvas as they cannot afford basic B&B accommodation.

The crew is working away from home and gets £35-a-day, which is considered to be a low amount. The matter has been brought to the notice of MPs and trade unions. They have affirmed that if the practice continued for a long time, the result will be suffered by patients.

A spokesman for the GMB Union said per day allowance that the ambulance workers are getting is not enough. It seems that authorities concerned should consider the issue and revise the figure.

"It could affect your work if you don't sleep properly, and there's also the hygiene aspect - how well can they shower and keep clean if they go home to a campsite?" said the spokesperson.

Health Minister Dr. Dan Poulter was quite upset to know about the living condition of the private ambulance crews. He was of the view that the housing condition in which they are living is completely unacceptable.

The housing condition in which these people live may not be providing them right amount of sleep and this can affect their sleep.
