AT&T has reportedly sold through all of its HTC First stock

According to a CNET report, AT&T has sold out of its initial stock of the HTC First handset, which was widely touted as the Facebook phone, but witnessed dismal sales.

The report said that AT&T Mobility CEO Ralph de la Vega has confirmed on Monday that the carrier had cleared out its initial inventory of the HTC First Facebook phone; and will not be ordering any more of those handsets.

AT&T had an exclusivity deal signed with Facebook for offering the April-launched HTC First handset, which is the only Android device to boast a pre-installed User Interface (UI)-skinning Facebook Home software package.

The HTC First sell out announcement by AT&T comes after a move by the carrier to reduce the cost of the handset - which witnessed poor response from the consumers - from $100 to just 99¢ when purchased with a two-year contract.

Despite the fact that AT&T has not divulged the exact number of HTC First handsets sold by it, De la Vega said though the handset was slow-moving when it debuted, the hefty price cut announced by AT&T had managed to attract a flock of customers; thereby helping the carrier clean out its inventory of the handset.

About AT&T having finally sold out the HTC First stock, De la Vega said: "We sold a bunch more when we lowered the price. We sold everything we had on that."
