An ensemble from Los Altos High School is scheduled to begin with a 15-day concert tour of Austria and Germany at the end of June. It has been decided that the event will happen at 7 p. m. June 11 at Los Altos High School's Eagle Theater, 201 Almond Ave.
This instrumental music ensemble will perform in parks, resorts and churches, with stops in Frankfurt, Heidelberg, Munich, Salzburg and Vienna. Ted Ferrucci, Los Altos High instrumental music director will head a group of 56 students and 11 adults on the department's fifth international concert tour.
For the first time in 2004, he took the members of the Los Altos High Instrumental Music Department to England. This was a maiden international tour as the team won the silver medal at the London International Wind Band Festival.
According to Ferrucci, "When traveling, most schools take only their most experienced musicians. It is important to me that all students have the opportunity to travel and be part of something bigger than themselves".
He said that the tour ensembles have always been good. Earlier the tours have gone to places like British Columbia, England, Italy, Switzerland, Spain and France. They've all left an indelible mark on the participants' minds, said he.
