According to a new report, hundreds of skulls have been found by a team of researchers working on the new Crossrail station outside the Liverpool Street station. These skulls have been found along the course of the long vanished Walbrook from past many centuries.
In 1988, about 39 skulls were found at London Wall almost inside the vision of the London Museum. Rebecca Redfern, from the centre for human bioarchaeology at the museum of London, has applied improved forensic techniques to these skulls.
Researchers believe that some of the skulls are of those people, who were killed in the amphitheatre. They have found another skull of a Roman empire, which reveals of the old mythology of Roman soldier presenting his bearded barbarian head as a gift to his emperor.
"Whether they died in the amphitheatre or in battle, decapitation with a sword is a very efficient way of ending a life somebody very much wanted these people dead", said Redfern.
This research has been published for the first time this week in the Journal of Archaeological Science by Redfern and Heather Bonney, from the Earth Sciences Department of the Natural History Museum.
Researchers revealed that these skulls are clear evidence of the first terrible evidence of Roman head hunters in Britain.
