Holocaust documentary "Shadows from My Past" has been written by Henry Feingold, a Holocaust intellectual. The documentary will be played this week in International Film Festival at the Fort Lauderdale.

Feingold said, "The agonizing correspondence of a Viennese Jewish family undergoing forced dispersion from Austria has a special immediacy. When the film then probes its impact on contemporary Austrians, the effect is heightened".

"Shadows" is a film that contains with the mixed emotions of Gita Weinrauch Kaufman. She is an American Jewish woman. When she came back to Vienna, the city she fled as a child in the year 1940. The film is directed by her late husband, Curt Kaufman. He was supported by Gita, as the pair worked together in every part of the film.

Gita went to Vienna with her mother, father and two brothers. Gita's mother died in 1980, she then found a shoebox full of letters, documents and photographs. These were the writings of her Jewish relatives who were living in different parts of the world between 1939 and 1941. In those letters, her relatives asked for their help regarding visas.

Gita met the historian Oliver Rathkolb, chair of the Department of Contemporary History at the University of Vienna in the year 1996.
