Google launches new security feature to protect app users
Technology giant Google has recently introduced some new features, including innovative anti-phishing tools and OAuth apps white-listing, to enhance security of its G Suite users.
Now, the tech giant has announced the launch of a new “unverified app” screen for new web apps and Apps Scripts to add another layer of security.
The new security feature will alert users that the application they are going to use has not been verified yet and that if they continue then they would proceed at their own risk.
Users will even be required to type in “continue” to go beyond the warning screen. The effort is expected to make even the most careless user conscious.
The company said in a statement, “These new notices will inform users automatically if they may be at risk, enabling them to make informed decisions to keep their information safe, and will make it easier to test and develop apps for developers.”
For now, the new security feature pops up only for new apps. However, Google will extend it to existing apps as well over the next few months.
