Kaspersky antivirus available for free
Cyber security giant Kaspersky has confirmed that its antivirus is now available for free, allowing Internet users to deploy the top-notch defense without spending a single penny.
Kaspersky Free is available worldwide. Internet users in the U.S., Canada and many Asia Pacific nations have access to the free software immediately, while global rollout will keep on over the coming months.
However, Kaspersky Free is not as full-featured as the full-scale version. It only protects files, emails and the web, along with some table-stakes features such as automatic updates.
Company founder and CEO Eugene Kaspersky said, “In short, the indispensable basics that no one on the planet should do without.”
Previously, the security company always charged a premium price for its antivirus. It topped independent testing results for several years. In 2016, AV-Comparatives created a new category called “Outstanding Products” for it and Bitdefender.
