India Gives Little More than 48 Hours to US Diplomat to Leave

Indian diplomat Devyani Khobragade has finally reached India on Friday night. America asked India to waive Devyani's diplomatic immunity, so that she can face trial.

But India refused to do so and she was sent to Delhi. It was on December 12 that she was hand-cuffed by police and was strip-searched. Since then things have got rough between India and the US.

It shall however, be noted that charges are pending on Devyani and she will face them if she return to America. In a recent activity, it has been found that India has asked the American embassy to withdraw one of its employees and go back to the US.

India has given little more than 48 hours for the withdrawal. Wayne May, a counsellor instrumental in granting visa, has been given less than two days to leave India. It has been found that he was helping Richard's husband and children in evacuating to the US.

When asked from the US and Indian embassy, they refused to confirm the name of employee who has been asked to leave the country.

"India has reason to believe that this officer was involved in processes relating to Khobragade case and subsequent unilateral action by the US", said the official sources.
