Pinocchio Lizard Is Very Much Present

As per recent reports, it has been unveiled that a lizard having Pinocchio-like nose has been spotted in an Ecuadorian cloud forest.

"It's hard to describe the feelings of finding this lizard. Finding the Pinocchio anole was like discovering a secret, a deeply held secret. We conceived it for years to be a mythological creature", affirmed Alejandro Arteaga, one of the lizard's spotters.

In scientific language, the lizard is known as Anolis proboscis. Initially, study researchers used to think that the long nose must be strong and hard. It is however, now that they have got to know that the nose is quite flexible.

Until 1953, experts did not explain the reptile. The long-nose lizard was spotted a number of times, but then it disappeared for a number of years and it was considered that it has gone extinct.

If to go as per the experts, then the lizard remained extinct for four decades. Jonathan Losos, an evolutionary biologist from Harvard University, shared that it was in 2005 that a group of bird watchers saw the lizard.

One of them clicked its photo and shared it. It was then that it was realized that the lizard has not vanished and is still very much present.
