Conchita Wurst Set to be Austrian Face in Eurovision Song Contest 2014

Conchita Wurst is to represent Austria in the Eurovision Song Contest Copenhagen in 2014. According to the Austrian Public Broadcaster ORF, Wurst has been decided, however, the song is yet to be decided. Real name of Conchita Wurst is Tom Neuwirth and he had earlier tried to represent the nation in 2012 as well, but he could not hold the first rank in the national final.

This year, selection of the singer participating in the Eurovision Song Contest has been done through an internal selection procedure, unlike last three representatives, who were chosen through public national final.

Conchita Wurst has been a face of various talent shows and would be the face of Alpine country now. Born on November 6th, 1988, Tom Neuwirth always wanted to make his place in the showbiz and talent show Starmania gave a kick start to his career. After his stint in the talent show, Tom became a part of the boy band jetzt anders, which could not go far though.

Tom got the name of Conchita Wurst, after he made a performance as the long-haired full-bearded lady in 2011 in a show Die große Chance. This talent show was the threshold of Tom's never ending popularity in Austria.
