Rise in Number of Complaints against Care Homes

As per reports, it has been unveiled that number of complaints against care homes has increased at a significant rate.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has sent as many as 910 warning notices in 2012-13. The number of complaints were said to be 50% more than the complaints in 2011-12.

Some of the many complaints that have been received by the care homes are with regard to falsifying medical records, leaving elderly people at risk and lack of investigations for unexplained injuries.

Authorities at the Care Quality Commission have asked two care homes in Pendle and Rossendale to increase the level of staff training regimes. They have also showed concern with regard to Hulton Care Nursing Home in Nelson.

Overall people living in Hulton Care Nursing Home were satisfied with the level of care they have received. People were of the view that they get good quality food and snacks and drinks on regular basis.

A spokesman for HC-One Ltd that runs Hulton said, "I confirm that we received a report for the CQC which praised us for the quality of care we provide for our residents". He was of the view that quality of care is vital to them.
