France and Germany to Get Stakes in EADS

It has been reported that the government of France and Germany would be given 12% share or stake in aerospace and defense group EADS. The agreement thus signed would allow Spain to have 30% share in Airbus planemaker.

The governments of France and Germany have not commented upon the agreement yet. EADS also declined to comment upon the news. However, it has come to light that Germany is planning to buy the stake of EADS with the help of carmaker Daimler. Daimler had been in news for a merger of $45 billion with EADS.

At present, Daimler holds 22.5% voting stake in EADS. The pact signed by France and Germany would allow media firm Lagardere to have 7.5% stake in the EADS. The deal would allow France, Germany and Spain in improving the troubled economy of the countries. However, it would be revealed later whether or not, the pact is beneficial. At present, the nations are celebrating the agreement and preparing to earn benefit from the agreement.

The global financial downturn has hampered the working of many countries. Unemployment and high tax rates have also affected Euro countries. It is hoped that the stake in EADS will help Germany and Finance to grow their economy.
