Ex-German President Kohler promises Growth of SMEs

Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) have a great scope in East Africa. Seeing the hope of development in the area, ex- German President Horst Kohler has promised that he will make all efforts for development of the industry.

He was present in a meeting in Berlin, which was also attended by the Dr Richard Sezibera, who is the Secretary General for the East African Community (EAC). He discussed the importance of SMEs for the region.

In the meeting, he assured that investments will be made to expand the SME East African Community (EAC) business. Moreover, it has been seen that Kohler has always been keen to seek opportunities to expand small and medium enterprise in East African countries.

It was due to the efforts of Kohler that the Euros 14 million grant was provided for the construction of the EAC Headquarters, which are being built in Arusha. The headquarters will be inaugurated on November 28.

Dr. Sezibera said that Kohler is a hard worker. While sharing his views on EAC integration of five countries, he affirmed, "Deepening EAC integration requires an environment that is peaceful and stable to promote investment and trade in the region".
