During the course of a recent interaction with The Verge, Shakil Barkat -- Motorola's Corporate Vice President of wearables and product development -- said that Motorola is planning to temporarily quit the smartwatch market.

The disclosure by Barkat implies that Motorola is, at least for the present, bringing its incredible range of Moto 360 smartwatches to an end. As such, the company will apparently not be releasing an updated version of its Moto 360 smartwatch in 2017.

Motorola has recently confirmed that the much-rumored 64GB version of the company's Moto X handset will soon be available in the US. The company said that the 64GB Moto X will initially come to US carriers AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Republic Wireless. The availability of the handset on Verizon has not been disclosed.
