Twitter is reportedly in talks with several potential buyers for Vine

According to a TechCrunch report, Twitter is negotiating a possible sale of its short-form video sharing service Vine with a number of potential buyers.

The report, based on the information shared by multiple unidentified sources, comes within days of Twitter’s October 27 announcement that it is shutting down the Vine service. In announcing the death sentence for Vine, Twitter said that the three-year-old service will be shutter in the next few months.

NHS England urges public to keep warm

CDC reports first cases of drug-resistant fungal infection

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) has confirmed that more than a dozen people have been diagnosed with a drug-resistant fungal infection.

A spokesperson for the federal agency told reporters that at least 13 people in various parts of the nation became ill from Candida Auris, a drug-resistant fungal infection that can sometimes become fatal.

NASA releases first color photos of Mars lander Schiaparelli’s crash site

American space agency NASA has released the first color images of the European Space Agency’s Mars lander Schiaparelli’s crash site, providing new details about the lander’s abortive touchdown attempt.

According to ESA, Schiaparelli slammed hard into surface of the Red Planet while attempting to land on October 19, 2016. Project managers guessed that failure of the spacecraft’s descent-slowing thrusters caused the crash.

Male birth control study reveals several side effects

An experimental birth control shot for men has been fund nearly 96 per cent effective at preventing pregnancy, but the study was ended earlier after several volunteers reported side effects like mood swings and altered libido.

In the study, researchers found that only 4 pregnancies resulted among 266 men who used the contraceptive. The method involved a series of shots/injections that effectively lowered the volunteers’ sperm count.

More U.S. kids being poisoned by prescription opioids: study

More U.S. children and teenagers are being poisoned by opioid painkillers that are often prescribed for other members of their families, the Yale School of Medicine warned in its latest report.

A team of researchers form the Yale School of Medicine surveyed the risk of opioid overdoses among children, and found that the number of children who visited emergency rooms to receive treatment for a drug overdose jumped more than 100 per cent between 1997 and 2012.

IDC reports 14.7% year-on-year drop in global tablet shipments in 2016 Q3

Research firm International Data Corporation (IDC) released its latest report on Monday, revealing that the 2016 third quarter market another rough quarter for the tablet market, thanks to a plunge in global tablet shipments.

According to the statistics released by IDC, the shipments of tablet computers across the world during the July-September 2016 quarter recorded a 14.7 percent year-on-year decline to 43 million units. In the same quarter last year, global tablet shipment figures stood at approximately 50.5 million units.
