Uber can now collect passenger data up to five minutes after a trip ends
In an announcement made via recent website post, ride-hailing service Uber has revealed that it is rolling out an update to its app, for bringing about an improvement in customer experience with its new location feature.
According to the details shared by Uber on its website, the new update to the Uber app comes with the capability to track the location of the passengers even after they have been dropped off.
As such, the new update to the Uber app means that when the service is enabled, the location of the passengers will be tracked by the company from the time they originally request a ride until five minutes after the end of the trip.
In explaining the reason behind the update, Uber said that the passenger data which the company will collect up to five minutes after a ride ends will essentially help drivers find riders without making phone calls. The passenger data was previously collected by Uber only when the passengers had the app open.
About the update released by Uber to its ride-hailing app, the company said in its website post: “Uber collects your location data from the time of trip request through five minutes after the trip ends, including when the app is in the background.”
