The United Nations (UN) has sent out warnings to Israel after it gave approval to building of new home in the East Jerusalem.
The Israeli committee has recently approved building of 2,610 new homes in a settlement in the occupied Palestinian territories. The UN has released a statement in which it has called on the officials of the country to cancel the plans.
According to the UN officials, approval to build the houses shall affect the peace hopes adversely and give rise to some kind of violence. In addition, the political chief of UN's chief secretary said that Israel shall consider transferring of the frozen tax and customs money to the Palestinian Authority.
The approval of building homes in Jerusalem is first in last 12 years. Till now, there has been no construction at the site. The construction shall begin within next few weeks or months. "Officially this is the final decision. There's a 15-day period until it becomes valid and they can start issuing tenders", said Lior Amihai, of the Settlement Watch project at the Peace Now group.
He, further, said that no more meetings shall be held over the issue and it shall be published in next few days. The US has also criticized the new plans by Israel.
