Following Hurricane Irma, normal operations at PortMiami, Fort Lauderdale's Port Everglades and Port Canaveral quickly resumed, but major cruise lines are facing months of disruptions to routes including stoppages at Eastern Caribbean islands that Irma hit hard.

Hurricane Irma hit ashore along the west coast of Florida, with a trajectory merely 100 miles to the east, devastating the world's three leading cruise hubs.

Norwegian's Eastern Caribbean voyages, which currently offered out of Miami on a single ship, feature stops in St. Thomas and Tortola in the British Virgin Islands, which have suffered catastrophic damages.

Royal Caribbean has also warned that its ships will likely not be able to visit St. Thomas and Irma-ravaged St. Martin as well as Key West in Florida.

In a travel alert, Royal Caribbean said, “Given Hurricane Irma's impact to St. Maarten, St. Thomas and Key West, we will be working on (finding) alternative ports for future sailings until these islands have fully recovered.”

In addition to St. Thomas, St. Martin, Tortola and Key West, cruise ship destinations drastically affected by Irma Hurricane include St. John, St. Barts, Barbuda and Cuba.
