Spain’s Discovery of 200-year-old Shipwreck's Hidden Treasures

Spain unveils 200 years old shipwreck's hidden treasures that sank with 500,000 silver coins onboard. The above claims are coming from the Spanish authorities, who said that unveiling some of the treasure from a 200-years-old frigate that sank, have found them more than 500,000 silver coins or a treasure worth approx $500 million.

According to the reports, the treasure has been unveiled from the Nuestra Senora de las Mercedes that was discovered by a United States salvage company in the year 2007.

Going back to history, one will learn that it was a Spanish naval ship that was sunk by the British navy in the year 1804, which returned to Spain in February after a five-year legal battle with Odyssey i. e. the US treasure-hunting company that hauled it up.

Experts reveal that the trove has hundreds of thousands of coins and artifacts like religious images and chests, which is currently in Madrid and will be soon taken to the Museum of Subaquatic Archaeology in the south-eastern port of Cartagena, where the officials will restore it to exhibit, the institution's director Mr. Jesus Prieto said.

"No institution or cultural organization, nationally or internationally, has ever faced a heritage challenge of this depth", he said. "To suddenly receive 14 tonnes of silver coins and other cultural goods is a challenge", he added.
