Tesla’s solar roof panels to cost lower than earlier estimates

The first two styles of Tesla’s solar roof will cost customers nearly $21.85 per square foot, cheaper than many industry analysts had anticipated.

Trina posts third-quarter 2014 earnings

Trina Solar (TSL), a Chinese manufacturer of photovoltaic module, posted its third quarter earnings of 2014 on Monday.

The total shipments in the third-quarter at Trina came in at 1.06GW, at the low-end of its guidance of 1.06-1.2GW. Trina reported $616.8 million revenue, lower than the consensus $646 million. Earnings per share were $0.14, also below the $0.15 expected.

Royal Dutch Shell presents Plan to Explore Alaskan Arctic region for Oil

On Thursday, Royal Dutch Shell presented a plan to the federal government with an aim to explore for oil in the Alaskan Arctic, once again after years of legal and logistical setbacks as well as series of opposition from environmentalists.

Shell's plan involves two drilling rigs working at the same time in the Chukchi Sea, which could generate over 400,000 barrels of oil a day.
