Fire Investigations UK (FIUK) has determined that Samsung Galaxy S III smartphone that spontaneously burst into flames in Ireland a few weeks back was caused by an external energy.

Strong Galaxy sales boost Samsung’s profit to record high

South Korean electronics giant Samsung has reported a record operating profit for its second quarter, thanks to strong sales of the Galaxy smartphone.

For the three months through June 30, Samsung reported a year-on-year increase of 79 per cent in profit to 6.7 trillion won (US$5.9bn). Analysts had projected a profit of 6.58 trillion won (US$5.78bn) for the concerned three months.
