Uber Planning Tesla Launch in Dubai in joint effort with Dubai RTA

Uber has announced few cars from Tesla in its new fleet for Dubai starting October 10. Uber has planned the project in cooperation with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai.

As per a new published by Gulf News, customers will be able to choose between Tesla Model S and Model X from Uber. Uber Dubai service will have Dh10 as base price and the service will charge Dh1.9 per kilometer on an average.

Uber UAE General Manager Chris Free informed, “We are tremendously excited to be the exclusive ride-hailing partner for this fleet of premium electric vehicles in Dubai, in partnership with Dubai Taxi Corporation, and for the clean vehicle technology to deliver out driver-partners and riders with more efficient, less-polluting mobility.”

Tesla Motors recently announced that the company is facing production bottlenecks and deliveries of Model 3 Tesla vehicles will be delayed. Tesla Motors has nearly half million pending orders for Model 3. The stronger customer interest in Model 3 has also led to decline in demand for Model S and Model X.
